Artist Biography Nyasha Kuliyambavi (born Moses R. Kaponda) is a Malawian Afro-fusion artist, rapper, songwriter, and storyteller whose music bridges traditional African culture with contemporary sounds. Originally from Northern Malawi, he creates music that celebrates rural life, cultural heritage, youth resilience, and the beauty of African identity. Blending Afro-fusion, conscious rap, and multilingual lyrics in Chitonga,Shona, Chichewa, English,Tumbuka and Swahili, Nyasha Afrika delivers songs that entertain while inspiring social change. His work is rooted in authentic storytelling, drawing from everyday experiences in rural communities to promote hope, unity, environmental stewardship, and opportunities for young people. In 2026, he was selected as one of the participants in the Rural Voices Amplified programme by Music Crossroads Malawi, part of the wider AMPLIFY initiative supported through Erasmus+. The programme focuses on developing emerging musicians through non-formal music education, creative entrepreneurship, collaboration, and international cultural exchange. Beyond music, Moses Kaponda is a renewable energy entrepreneur and community development advocate. His experience working with rural communities influences his songwriting, giving voice to local stories while connecting them to global conversations about sustainable development, culture, and youth empowerment.
