Released in 2006, “Cholapitsa” is the breakthrough hit that introduced Phyzix to the mainstream and helped shape a new era of Malawian hip hop. Recorded while Phyzix was only 19 years old and in his first year at The Polytechnic, the song quickly became a nationwide anthem through its raw energy, catchy delivery and street appeal. The beat was produced by Marcus of Daredevilz, while the song was recorded, mixed and mastered by GD of Daredevilz, marking the beginning of a long creative connection between Phyzix and the legendary duo. The record received massive radio support across Malawi and reportedly sold over 40,000 copies within its first month. More than just a hit song, “Cholapitsa” laid the foundation for the Phyzix brand and remains one of the most important records in Malawian urban music history.
