Monk D Biography Dalitso Mikeyasi, popularly known by his stage name Monk D, is a Malawian Reggae and Dancehall artist born on 12 December 1989. Widely recognized for his hard work and determination, he is also known by the nickname “Taliban.” Monk D was raised in Manase Township in Blantyre City, Malawi, where he continues to live and build his music career. Raised by his single mother, Magret Mikeyasi, after losing his father during childhood, Monk D developed a deep passion for music at a very young age. He recorded his first song at the age of eleven and later released his first music video in the early 2000s. Over the years, he has recorded more than 150 songs, building a strong catalog of reggae and dancehall music that reflects his life experiences, struggles, and ambitions. Monk D is currently preparing for the release of his second album as fans eagerly anticipate more promotions and new music in 2026. His mixtape titled “My Struggle” contains 18 songs and showcases his lyrical talent, resilience, and dedication to authentic Malawian dancehall and reggae culture. His musical influences include some of Malawi and Jamaica’s most respected artists such as Tay Grin, Patience Namadingo, Evison Matafale, Sizzla, and Capleton, all of whom inspired his love for reggae and dancehall music. Throughout his career, Monk D has worked with labels including CK Records, Ace Records, and TK More. He has also collaborated with artists such as Blasto, Positive Yut, Mad Spark, and Komuniq. Beyond music, Monk D is a qualified pharmacist, humanitarian, youth leader, and ambassador for community development. He actively uses his influence to inspire young people beyond entertainment, combining music, leadership, and social impact to uplift communities in Malawi.
